When I moved into my house, I was lucky enough to discover a next door neighbor whose youngest child had just moved out. While I didn’t buy this house because I had an awesome neighbor, it’s clearly been a benefit! Margo has two kids, both grown, and three tiny dogs. When she offered to let my dogs out when I was gone long hours (and they loved her), that was great. When I asked if she’d help around the house and she said yes, that was even better. But when I asked her if she’d help me with paperwork, it was the beginning of a beautiful relationship! She insisted on a real interview – then showed up in a Supergirl outfit she’d bought for just that occasion! Clearly, we have the same sense of humor.
She’s learned positive reinforcement training for walking dogs – puppies up to leash aggressive dogs – and teaching good household manners. When I’m going to be gone for more than four hours she comes by to visit, walk, and give all the TLC any dogs I’m boarding could need!
Even better, she does my paperwork. What would I do without her? Margo answers emails, pulls files, updates my call back lists, and a dozen other things that I’m terrible at doing, freeing me up to focus on the dogs. If you email, you will often catch Margo the fabulous. And if you catch me, it’s probably because she told me to check my email!
She’s now started house sitting for many of my clients as well, sometimes with her husband. As a police officer he has an odd schedule, and they’re able to make a small vacation out of it. The dogs love it!
